4 easy guitar tabs for beginners

how to play guitar

Guitar tabs are a form of alphabet for guitarists. Using tabs you can play any music without knowing the note tables. Nowadays, you can find tabs online for pretty much any song out there, so they are a very useful tool for any musician. This article includes a list of 4 songs that are very easy to learn, yet each of them provides something useful to advance your guitar skills.
With that being said, here is the list itself:

“Come as You Are” by Nirvana

We will be playing the bass riff from this song because it is relatively simple, yet complex in its own way. The tab uses only the top two strings (and 2 first frets). But it is the rhythm that is the main concern here, as it is pretty fast. In the beginning, play each of the notes slowly. Also, try to match it with singing. It is advised to play this song without a pick. To do this, you need to form a sort of claw and strike the strings using your index and middle fingers. This is called finger picking and it is a very useful tool to know.

“Happy birthday”

Ah, yes. This popular song is probably known all around the world. It was chosen for its simplicity. The whole song can be played using a single low E string. However, it practices your finger movement around the fret board. It also trains you to ring the notes appropriately.

“Iron man” by Iron Maiden

This tab is a step above the previous one. It requires you to both play two strings at once and to utilize the “slide”. This is a technique where you play two frets at the same time and also change them by sliding up or down. To better understand this, first play the part without using the slide. Then play it with only one string at a time, and finally, add another one.

“Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns ‘n’ Roses

This song has a very popular intro. It is not that easy to play because it requires really good precision and the ability to play quickly. Mastering this song, however, is not only satisfying but impressive when demonstrated. It is recommended to use all four fingers while playing (even your pinky finger). This is a difficult, but very useful technique to learn that will expand your guitar knowledge. It is also important to know how to play this song because it is played on the down end of the fret board.
If you master these four songs, you are well on your way to becoming a better guitarist!
